Over the past five years, our Braw Wee Workshops have become very popular with over 1500 people attending a variety of workshops from Bottle Lamp Making to Visible Mending! So here are some of the most common questions we get! 

Who are the Workshops for?

We aim to be accessible as possible with our workshops but our main workshops are suitable for age 13 years and above. We are hoping to do more that are suitable for young people in the new year. 

Where do the workshops take place? 

Our workshops now take place at our new studio is at Central Chambers, 51B, 93 Hope Street, Glasgow, G2 6LD. Please note there are a number of steps up reach our lifts that take you to our studio. There is a wheelchair lift that we can arrange access throug

We also work in partnership with The Palais Bar which is accessible. 

We can also bring our workshops to you if you have a suitable space in mind. 

If you have issues with stairs then will look to find an accessible venue - let us know in advance if you have any accessibility needs. 

How long do Workshops run for? 

Workshops normally last for approximately 2-2.5 hours depending on numbers and the workshop. 

Studio Directions

We are now based in the city centre on Hope Street, right across from Central Station, there is limited on street paid for parking on Wellington Street and Bothwell Street (please note a 2 hour limit) or less than 5 min walk from the NCP car park on Mitchell Street. It is also walking distance of Queen Street and just 5 minutes from Buchanan Street Underground. 

I've got a voucher or was booked into one of the postponed workshops through Braw Wee Emporium, how do I rebook? 

Any vouchers or cancelled places will be honoured by Braw Wee Craft Club. Just drop us an email with your preferred workshop date and we'll get you booked in - jennifer@brawweecraftclub.com

In terms of Covid measures, if you are feeling ill at all or have tested positive please postpone attending - it isn’t a problem to reorganise for you. 

What do I need to bring to a workshop?

Bottle Lamp

Your fabric needs to be at least the following dimensions 820mm wide x 255mm (you will see approx. 200mm of your fabric height on your lamp) but we suggest that it is at least 0.5 metres long, particularly if you have a pattern as it give you an allowance to position your fabric on the shade. This is for a 25cm Lampshade which is the most comment one we use in the workshops. 

Also a bottle of your choice as long as the neck of the bottle is between 17mm to 19mm – which is fairly standard for most boozy bottles.

A bag to carry you lamp safely home in! 

Arm Knitting - just a big bag to carry your blanket home in! Pick your colour at Booking!

We try to practice what we preach when it comes to sourcing our fabrics, so supporting local small business here in Scotland – although occasionally we seek out other small business in other parts of the world if we can’t find exactly what we are looking for here!

Harris Tweed 

Although we don’t recommend that you use Harris Tweed for your first Lampshade as the thickness of the fabric makes it slightly more difficult to work with – it isn’t impossible and we’ve had participants make lovely lampshades using tweeds before.

Can you do workshops for private groups or in other venues?

Yes and yes - if you want to book in for a special event such as a Hen Party, Special Birthdays, Work Nights or any other occasions just drop us a email to jennifer@brawcraftclub.com to check for dates and available. We do a discount on full price tickets for groups over 6 people.

We can run these from our studio or another suitable venue or we can also do home parties. All we need is enough table space and seats for your group.
